Default jeep newb

hey guys, im new to the board and new to jeeps all together. just got a 98 grand cherokee and im lookin to get a 2 1/2 in lift to throw on some 31's. im living on a college budget so cant spend a fortune, just wondering whats a good setup to get into for a reasonable price

The cheapest 2" lift you'll find are spring spacers.

thank u. might seem like a dumb question to most but ive never done or been around this really. was just given the jeep and ill i know is it needs to be bigger

If you get the '97 or '98 Grand Cherokee "Up-Country" coil springs that will add around 1&1/2"s of lift over your regular springs, then if you added the spacers with that it would be around 3 to 3 &1/2"s of lift. And they're a lot cheaper than an after-market lift kit.

Look through the for sale sections of jeep forums. Great place to find lifts for cheap. That's what I did and scored a 2.5" Kevins Offroad BB plus a set of Up Country springs for $300. Total lift is just under 4".

Mine came with the Up-Country suspension package, so I'd just add the spacers.
Here's how mine sits at the stock height w/ 245x70x16s. Those are equal to 29.5"x 9.5"s.
