Jerking from dead stop when accelerating
Hi, I've had several Jeep XJs in the past and am now on my 2nd ZJ. Betty May is her name and she is a 97 Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2 in Chargold loaded with every option. Has a weird issue that only happens during acceleration. When you come to a complete stop, the jeep will buck/jerk/feel like it lost traction then take off. Its not the wheels it feels like drivetrain.
My transfer case literally blew up the week before (cracked into 3 pieces) and when replaced all noises shudders were gone except this one. Took Lucas Red and Tacky #2 grease and lubed up the slip yoke on the speedy shaft (pushed grease into drive shaft hole and covered splines and also filled side that goes into tranny. Buck/jerk/shudder was GONE and the jeep had so much power suddenly I thought the trans would give out. Very satisfied I gave the jeep back to my wife, who has been spooked about that little slip. Two days later the jerk is back...
I don't understand, did I not grease enough, did miss a zerk fitting? I did notice that I have no boot cover on the speedy shaft, did it all leak out immediately. There was a great write up for this for an XJ but it was picture based and all of the pic links are now dead leaving it somewhat lacking and
confusing
