My 96 5.2L shifts OK through the gears on acceleration and it seems to downshift OK on hills or kick down, but at very low parking lot speeds it seems to hunt or jerk a bit even going straight.
I recently changed the filter and fluid (ATF Plus4) and set the front and rear bands per the manual. Would a TV cable adjustment affect/improve the low speed shifting?

Are you sure its hunting/shifting gears at low speeds (what MPH >10mph?). With the manual shifter, can you select a position and cause this to stop?

Shifting late? at 3000+
Before making adjustments check the throttle valve linkage at the tranny. I fixxed a 1996 and a 2002 by spraying rusty linkage with WD40 and working it back and forth untill the return spring at the transmission could pull it by its self. The linkage would stick in peddle pushed position. The 96 was a 5.2L. The 02 was a 4.0L. You might also oil the cable. I had the won't shift untill 3000+ on both of them shortly after picking them up used. I think I just pushed them a little harder than the previous owners.
