Default Limited Edition Spare Tire Cover Question

Alright so I've got a quick question. I know the Orvris was made from 95-97, and I've always loved that style spare tire cover. I've read somewhere that in 1998 Chrystler produced the same style in different colors. I have not been able to find any pictures of a tan one, only in gray/black. I would appreciate it if anyone could confirm or deny that this even exists. If someone has picture proof that would be amazing, and if someone wanted to let one go that would be even better! Thanks in advance!

To the best of my knowledge that cover in the second picture is strictly a '98 Grand Cherokee with the 5.9 only thing.
I sourced one years ago for my '00 XJ for $30 shipped that I love dearly. LOL.

Oh and literally perfect when I bought it. Like taken out of the Jeep on day one perfect.
Anyway but while not exactly the same, but almost, that cover can be found in the European Orvis XJ.
One of the differences is that there are D rings on it for the cheesy tarp like cargo cover they used in '97 and up in replacement of the '96 and down retractable one.
The other is look at the zipper and flap position on it and compare that to how the other one is set up.
So basically, assuming you can deal with the D rings on it and how the flap/zipper is different, what you are looking for is the one that would have come with the "tan" interior.
Came across one and have the Camel interior in my '00 so saved a shot to my computer.

That shot is supposedly from a '99.
In the US the "tan" in '97 and pretty sure '98 is referred to as Saddle.
In '99 to '01 it is called Camel.
Saddle is a little more "orangy" then Camel.
To give you an idea. Saddle on the left and Camel on the right.

Now here is what I don't know.
What years the Orvis XJ in Europe was produced.
And if the interior "tan" color followed suit like the US versions.
Cause you might care about whether it is Saddle or Camel.

Default It Exists????

Ralph77, once again you come in clutch! That is so much information that I couldn't find on the internet. Like I guess most people don't talk about these! Lol anyways, that cover is exactly what I'm looking for!

I currently have what I believe is a saddle one with the zipper. I took it out of a GC but don't know what if it was a ZJ or a WJ. My 96 XJ came with the cloth one and then I found a leather XJ one, then found the GC one with storage, now I want to upgrade again. Lol this whole thing has progressed more than I had ever wished.

As far as which color tan, I guess I don't really mind. I did care when I first got the GC one and even shelved it for a while but found the storage and usability outweighed the specific color.

I dont mind the D ring as much as the zipper being under the flap, but I would KILL to get my hands on one like what you pictured. Let me know if you are interested in selling yours, or if you happen to come across another one. Thanks in advance!

Also, this what my cargo area looks like right now. Eventually, I would absolutely love to get a tan full size spare cargo cover! But thats probably a couple hundred dollars and another few years of my life looking 🤣

If I took the time to look at your profile I would have seen you own a '96. LOL.
So technically either color, Saddle or Camel, won't match but one, or both, might be close enough for you to be OK with it.
I am willing to bet that the one you show in that last shot is out of a ZJ.
Sorry to mislead you. That "tan" one is not mine. Just a shot I found on the internet sometime ago that I saved for a reference.
I do that a lot when I come across pictures of not everyday stuff associated with XJ's.
But I do stalk Ebay in the UK and if I do see one will let you know.
Frankly I wouldn't want a "tan" one in my '00 despite having a Camel interior.
I sourced the cheesy cloth Camel cargo cover for mine.
This shot is of my '00.

But truthfully wish it was Agate.
One day I am going to get my hands on the Orvis tire cover with the cargo cover in Agate.
Cause if I am not mistaken the cargo cover is leather.
Which would be so cool. LOL.

Yeah I'm not too keen on the zipper being under the flap, but its fine. Is the inside storage considerably larger than the one that I have? The reason I ask is because the length of the zipper is longer on the "deluxe" model 🤣

I think the Camel color will probably match a bit better because like you said, the saddle is kinda orangey. But either way, I'd love to have one. Speaking of color, is my interior considered sand? I've read a few mixed reviews but that seems the most likely color.

Also, I know it's not Jeep, but Dodge did put a cool spare tire cover in their Ramchargers. It's not similar to anything we're currently talking about, but it does remind me of what should have came in the XJ Wagoneer, Briarwood, or even the FSJ. Essentially it's leather with a carpet patch on it. Pretty cool as a side note.

When you say deluxe version do you mean the 5.9 one?
Regardless I have never seen a Orvis one up close so I could not tell you if the storage is bigger in one.
Also I am just assuming there is a zipper under the flap in the Orvis one.

Deluxe as in the one that has the internal and external storage, regardless of color.

When I asked about the size, I did not mean the Orvis specifically, I meant high trim or deluxe (like yours) and the mid trim (like mine) lol wow I wish these spare tire covers were given proper names from Chrystler.

No, the Orvis ones are the same as the others. It looks like just the saddle one has the zipper sewn in a different spot. Which is kinda strange considering thothers are all similar and there are lots of pictures of the others, and only one of the saddle. Almost like it was custom made or something.
