lots of ? on my new ZJ.....
So dont kill me......
OK.... so here we go. Kinda a newb to the Jeep thing, grew up building 2wd prerunners in Cali..... so slap me if I'm wrong on anything! lol
Picked up a 1993 Grand on 33's. Has appx 5-6'' lift and what I think to be a ford 8.8 rear. Got it for about $1500. Needs tires, a bit of love and a bit of rust patching. Pretty much the rust is contained to the rockers, and a bit on the fenders. Floor boards look great.
Here are my issues... lol a few. Have pics below to help with the help I need.
1. Rear is welded locked. Was hoping it was just the spiders but the seem to have welded the hell out of it. Think I need all new internals or could this be reversed??
2. Can't find who made the lift kit..... looked all over online....
Thanks for any help anyone can give some help or advice!!! And have a few more pics in my build thread that needs some updating not that I have gotten under it....
PICS:
Numbering on the rear axle... Its a ford 8.8 right? can anyone tell me any more info on it from these? I cant find much:
Welded rear. that's ALOT of welding. Pretty sure I need to rebuild the whole rear. Was hoping it was was just the spiders but looks to be worse then that....:
Front end lift:
Rear lift:
oh and thanks again!!!!!!

your upper control arm mounts in the last 2 pics are pulling away from the axle tube...
based on the grey/silver color of the coils I would guess that it is a Rubicon Express or a newer Rough Country lift
and yes it is an 8.8
they did a great job welding the gears... BUT as I said, you will need to fix the axle side, rear, upper control arm mounts... it IS NOT safe as it sits
as for upgrading it, you will need to pull the axle shafts out of the way and gt a new carrier... then you can upgrade...
keep in mind you need the same gear ratio front and rear

Look at this video, yours doesn't look like an 8.8 to me.

here is the cover. Fill plug is middle/top drivers side on front side and looks to be a abs plug right at the top front side.
