im talkin about the goodyear MT/R's, not bfg. the goodyears just dont clean out the mud as well as others. the bfg's are good in the mud but they seem to have a thin sidewall comparetively to other tires. a buddy of mine ran them and slit 3 sidewalls (2 on one trip).

both good tires but ill stick to swampers. great traction (especially when grooved) and extremely tough.

and i stand corrected...mt/r doesnt stand for mud terrain. but i was just stating the fact they are a mud style tire.

Oops...so was I, as BFG doesn't make an MT/R, they make a Mud T/A...My buddy runs the MT/R in everything with pretty good result. And I also agree about the BFG sidewall. Anyway, all of these tires have their +'s and their -'s. But they all are decent tires.

Anyway, the X-M/T's have been good to me and got me through most of what I've thrown at them...

Later.

I've run both Dunlop Mud Rovers and Firestone Destination M/T's

Dunlops... Loud on the road, very heavy tire, smaller than advertised. After they wore in a bit, VERY scary on wet, slushy or icy pavement.

The Firestones... Loud but not the worst, heavy tire, really close to advertised size. They aren't scary on wet, slushy, snow, and icy pavement. On loose dirt and wet mud, VERY good traction. Relatively good in gooey mud. I live in Illinois so rocks are in the parking lot here.

I thought it meant Mud Terrain for along time also. Guess Goodyear just want to be different or confuse us all.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the Toyo MT? That from what I have seen is one of the best mudders out there. I know a few guys that swear by them. The tread design is almost identical to the Cooper STT's but the side wall is way stronger. A guy I work with is going on 30k with just under half tread left. My choice is either going to be the STT's or the new Swamper M-16.

Here is a liink to the SS M-16
