pull the oil pan and see if theres metal shavings/chunks in the pan. drain the oil first obviously or you're gonna have a mess.

The best way to check is to do an internal inspection. Look for heat signatures in the metal parts that were run with no oil. Also scrape marks, etc.

If you consider legal action, look into small claims court in your area. Try to get some money for the repair. The max you can claim will depend on your court system. File for the max compensation. Do a check of that court system.

I filed a claim against an attorney in small claims court. He decided to pay the claim before he faced the judge.

this what they saying in the report why they wont fix it the guy didnt even take apart the engine to check just bec there is oil in the car that the shop put in there.

That report is crap they know they messed up just covering there buts trying to avoid paying for the motor!

Drain your oil in a clear container look at it might help you take a lot of photos while doing it every thing before and after.

Could be 2 quarts over because they put oil in to see how low it really was.
