Default need help with lift and tire size please

So I just bought my first jeep! Im stoked, I picked up a 98 grand cherokee limited that its close to mint condition for only $2000! It was a great deal and I love it. I wanna do a lift and some bigger tires but im new to this and don't know what to go with or were to start since I've been working on lowered imports with tons of power versus lifted trucks. Anyway I wanna lift my jeep but I don't want anything crazy. I dont do really any offdriving so I don't need anything crazy but a little more clearance wouldn't hurt I guess. So I wanna lift the jeep maybe 2-4 in., prob closer to 2 and wanna put some decent size tires. I don't want a big gap between tires and body but I don't want rubbing issues either. So what do you guys recommend? If u could give me some suggestions and preferably some pics to go with em that would be awesome! Thanks for the help in advanced. O yea almost forgot to mention, I don't wanna have to drop a ton of cash to do this either. Like I said I don't really offroad so im doing this mostly for a nicer appearance. Thanks.

Check out IRO they're lifts are awesome. Or you can get some 2" spacers and get a real cheap lift that way. Don't forget you'll need longer shocks with any lift.

IRO = iron rock offroad

Get the spacers at Crawlerready.

With 2" of lift you can fit 31" with minor trimming if any. But just search around as there are a TON of threads on what lift will look like what on your ZJ.

I like my 3.5"...not overly big and its great on and off road...im currently running 32x11.5...but is a must to trim the fenders...31's fit on it great tho.
Heres a few pics of the different setups i've had.

31x10.5's on the 3.5" lift...no trimming.

3.5" lift with 32x11.5's and minor trimming...rubbed when i turned.

And as she sits now with 3.5" lift, 32x11.5's and flares pulled and fenders trimmed...no rubbing and much better flex.

Very nice dude! It looks awesome in all ur pics. I don't wanna do any trimming I don't think. Like I said just trying to make it look little better. I don't go offroading othere then the occasional romp when it snows. Therefore I think im gonna look into ur first setup. U said u did a 3.5 lift with 31 in tires. What if I did a 2 or 2.5 in lift? I wanna have as little of a gap as possible between my fenders and tires. If I went with a 2 or 2.5 in lift could I still fit 31,s without rubbing or trimming? Also could I go any wider on the tires or would I then have to start trimming no matter what lift I did, weather it was a 2-3.5? Thanks again for theology and again ur truck looks sick!

Go with a 3in lift, so you dont need to mod your t case, or drop it. you can keep your brake lines the same. Then run some 31/10.5/15 sized tires. and your set.

Im not a 100% sure, but i think you can run 31x10.5's on a 2-2.5"...only thing you may have problems with is rubbing on you control arms when you turn...you could fix that by getting wheel spacers, or wheels with lower backspacing...and you can go as wide as a tire you want as long as your wheels have the correct backspacing...but just an fyi if your looking to stay at 31" tall but want wider...the only people that make them are super swamper and pro comp...maybe a couple others, but thats all i can remember...not a wide selection...31x10.5's are very common and can find a set really easy...used or new....so that being said...your best set up would be 2-2.5" lift with 31x10.5's...you may have to trim the flare a little...but thats nothing to do.

PS. Thanks i love her so far...just kind of getting to the stage where i want it bigger.lol But money's tight so she'll work for now.lol

The grand is the more luxurious vehicle supposedly. The difference is that the grand can have a V8 with 3 different transfer cases and two different rear ends the D35(turdy five) and the better D44A. The grands are coil suspension front and rear compared to the cherokee where its coil front and leafs in the rear.
