Yikes! I'm glad my '97 Grand has a 4.0 HO in it for sure, now.

Please cool down and think about it. You made a decision and, one way or another, you have to live with it. Weither it was a bad decision will only come with time. We all have made some bad decisions, but that's life. The fact that you posted this subject at all tells me you wanted to know what we thought about it. Don't get annoyed because people have other opinions.

Most of the guys that post on this forum don't have a lot of cash, yet they bought a used Jeep, knowing full well that they are expensive to maintain and repair. They are, however, a blast to drive and are very capable in bad weather. As far as buying a different one goes, better the beast you know than one you don't.

When I went looking for a Jeep, I already had a little knowledge about them. I looked specifically for a 4.0 with Selectrac because I wanted reliability in a DD. When I found this Great White Whale, I wasn't at all happy about it being a base model, BUT it filled my criteria for what I needed. That was MY decision and, so far, it seems to have been a good one.

Yes you are. My 95 XJ with 4.0 has 201,000 + miles and uses less oil than my 4.7, Dave1123, I like the creature comforts of the Overland but would have been much better off with "The Great White Whale". The 242 and 4.0 is hard to beat.

The Great White Whale is what my sister-in-law calls it. She drives a Honda Fit, of all things. I haven't named her because she hasn't shown her personality to me yet. She's faithful, strong, and reliable. Sarah comes to mind. I think out of all the used vehicles I've bought over the years, this is the best one ever.

The only thing I don't like about it is it looks too much like all the other SUVs out there. The ZJs and XJs had a distinctive look, but the WJs don't. Unless you see the 7 tooth grill, you don't know it's a Jeep.
