Here is my home brewed spare tire carrier. Made out of a old trailer hitch and some exhaust with a metal plate welded on that i then welded wheel studs to for the wheel.

You guys notice any power loss with 32's/33's? This is worrying me right now, as I'm 3.55s. I'm trying not to get carried away here and regear at this point, since this vehicle will mostly be for DD, may not ever get offroaded, given my heavily modded JKUR that I use for that.

I'm questioning if I should just do a 2" BB, bilstein 5100's, and go up to 30's. I'm looking at the costs getting into the 4" RC, and realizing that I'll need a new track bar (JKS), wheel spacers, possibly a new driveshaft, along with the new wheels, which I was ok with, but then thinking if it drives like a dog and I have to regear, no way I'm paying for that for the D30/35, and I'd just swap to some rubi take off axles to gain the gearing and lockers. But then it's getting REAL crazy, again for something I may never offroad.

I'm torn on what to do. Part of me is thinking crazy crazy stuff like swapping my 4.88 geared rubi axles onto this, and buying some new 60s for my JK, but that's uber crazy.

Yeah that I'm unsure on. The tires on my white jeep are 265/70R16 which I think works out to be a 30" tire, give or take a bit, I have yet to drive it on the road because I have to fix a few things first but I was sort of curious about the same thing. I WILL be wheeling in that one and have weighed the option of going to a more aggressive tire but at that point, do I go with a thicker ply tire and with that, will I run into issues with turning the extra weight. My jeep has more power and torque than even a stock v8 jeep at this point but still... Idk

What is stock, I believe 27 inch? I'm thinking going to 32 is going to be too much for 3.55s. It was like that with my JK, and 4.10s with 32.5s, when jumped to 37's, people told me I could do it and to wheel with it and if need be, regear later, but common sense for me told me to regear then. I heard I would for sure lose my 6th gear if not. Even at 4.88s, it's a tad less powerful than what it was before, in hindsight I would have gone to 5.13s, but it's still good for the highway, and more than enough for the rock climbing I do. But along those lines is where I think 3.55s and 32's will be **** poor on the highway, and drag this v8 gas guzzler into feeling like a gas tank with a 1 inch hole.

Lol I hear that. My brown one has the v8 and at first I thought of doing that one up but then I got lucky and found the lifted stroked 4.0 jeep and that problem was solved for me. It's got more HP than the v8 and damn near 300 ft. Lbs of torque. Not many places to rock climb here so mainly the off roading will be trails and mud but still, idk how to improve on what's been done to it. I'll likely find something but this is my first modded jeep so it's a learning experience

My WJ is a 4.0, and when I went with the 32's I noticed it. If you already have a trail rig I wouldn't waste the time and money. I had 30's? I think before the new tires and wheels with a 2.5 inch lift as a daily driver. You may still notice a difference with that. Mine has 4.56 gears, 32" KO2's, 2.5 inch lift virtually no up travel with the bumpstops. Kind of a rough ride for a daily driver, and took a hit on the mpg. And when I get the steel bumpers on I may have to lift it another inch.

My 2000 WJ has 245/70R16's on it and they are 29.5" in diameter. I believe 245/75R16's are 31.5 diameter.

You can figure out a metric tire's overall diameter by converting the width to inches, calculating the profile (ie; 70 or 75) as a percentage of the width which gives you height above the rim, times 2 + the rim diameter.

That's the thing. But I feel getting such a low mileage version, and wanting something to play with in the winter, I should give it some new life and really take care of it. The regearing is the kicker for me, that's the threshold that is holding a suspension lift back. I'll likely do the BB and soak it in for the summer, and decide come fall.

Stock tire size I believe is 225/75R16 most I have had besides the first one have had the 245/70R16. Current one has 265/70R16 with the 4" lift.

The ones on mine, which I'm pretty sure are original as they match the spare, are 235/65r17, which are 29".

I have no idea, 2004. I believe the Columbia Edition was in the last few months of the year, from what I have read.

I've got a weird one for you. My 2000 WJ Laredo came with the factory oversize tires on it, 245/70R16. My spare, which is original, is a 60 series mounted on a 5.5X17 steel rim! WTF? The OD is the same as a 225/75R16 at 29.5". I'm so confused!
