Last week my electric windows would not go up or down on my 2004 Grand Cherokee4L. After going in and out of the car a couple of times the windows worked. The Jeep sat in the garage a few days and when I sent to go start it it barely cranked and did not start. I put the battery charger on 2 Amps and let it sit overnight. The next day it barely cranked over and did not start. I checked the battery and it was from Jan 2017 so I went to Costco and bought a new battery, put it in and cranked right over. I drove it around the block a few times and started it, turned it off then on a few times to feel confident that was the problem. The next day I went to take it to the shop to get inspected, I opened the door the interior lights went on and were bright so I was feeling good about the fix. Well, that ended when it went to crank over and did nothing and all lights went out. I tried to start it again and absolutely nothing happened as if I were not turning the key at all. I cleaned off the wires put new battery terminals on, and nothing. So now it sits dead as a door nail, needs to be inspected before Friday 3/1 so I can renew the registration. Any suggestions on what to check or what it could be?

I put flux in the positive wires and used a soldering gun to clean out the wire strands. I took the new terminal connector and sanded more of the paint away where the wires got clamped down, and it started. It seemed to run rough so I shut it down. I started it turned it off a few times and it worked, I checked and I now have an error code P1490. P1490: Low speed radiator fan relay circuit malfunction but I don't think that was the problem. I am hoping it was the flux cleaning off the wires and sanding the terminal making the contact area larger. Tomorrow I will see if it starts and will try and get it inspected.
