Pause before fuel pump comes on

Pause before fuel pump comes on
Have a '94 jeep grand Cherokee limited. When I turn the ignition on it goes a few minutes till the fuel pump comes. What might be the cause? I switched the pump relay with another one and it didn't make difference, so I figure the relay is still good.

It's the Auto Shut Down relay. It's in the power box under the hood.

Why are so many problems related to bad solder connections on circuit boards in jeeps? I know these are wave soldered in production, but is it the new lead free solder or are these made in China?

But I know what you mean! Mid 90s vehicles have a lot of stupid electrical issues because the parts were made like crap. They cheaped out on all the fancy things that were supposed to be taking the auto industry into the "future"

If the caps need to be replaced, I agree with you. This is something I could do because of my old radio bashing, but I don't think the average backyard mechanic could do it easily, especialy if he has to drive it the next day. Replacing the PCM isn't a plug and play thing, is it?

And hey, if you can solder go for it! The hardest part of this job is getting the silicone off without damaging anything else. You can pick up the new caps for it at Radio Shack.

Thanks to all. The jeep doesn't start at all now. I changed the caps, still nothing. I checked and there's no pressure on the fuel rail, but I can bypass the fuel pump relay and the pump runs. Also I'm not getting spark, tested the coil there's power to it and according to the ohm test it appears to be good. Any help please?
