Default ~*~Possible Repair to your Unresponsive Door Window Switches~*~ Pics

-

Good morning-

Some of you may recall my post on problems with my effective rear passenger door window switch...

1st I went ahead an ordered a switch to have it on hand. I did not want to dis mantle the read door and have to put it back together with out finishing the repair so having the $27 switch in stock seemed like a good idea to me.

I took the door panel clips off. Be gentle these yellow clips are $2.50 each. If you damage them the door panel will not close correctly and you'll also be prone to get rattles (Note; After removing the door panel I see an attempt by the design engineers to provide easy access, there is an access from above to just the switch itself. I wasn't able to get it to work but there is a clip there that dis engages to let that section come out.)

I went ahead and removed the door switch and took a closer look.

See can now see that the clip has a small pin that comes up in between the plastic there that makes that engaging sound you feel/hear.

It's designed to click these two connectors below it...

In my case the problem was a gummed up steel pin (coffee, soda, sugar) which made the pin un able to go up and down easily/freely.

Btw I called over and showed it to my companion that day Sonia "I had to phone ya" Telonia as she watched me from across the room while she took the load off.

And sure I can see why...

Sonias stems got tired of standing around on those odd yet very attractive shoes she is sporting...

Then again I'm sure you agree she could be wearing combat boots and still look like a million dollars

Lol.

Anyhow I cleaned and greased the pin as Sonia watched closely as the pin now moved freely up n down.

I then replaced to door panel and returned the $27 door switch in the same Blend Door kit to Mopar for reimbursement.

Minor repair complete!

Sonia, lets go enjoy a quick single malt Glenmorangie cocktail and go home honey

Guys I hope this post n photos help you to release yours too

Enjoy your day gentlemen.

Kind regards always,

PeterB.

I had the same problem with the driver's door switches on my wife's Dodge Caravan (97) but those pins were aluminum and got corroded. Being a toolmaker, I made new pins out of brass and never had that problem again.

I also had the problem of a load in the back seat shifting and popping the lever out of the door. I inspected the lever and nothing was broken, so I just popped it back in. It's still working.

He gave his own father "the talk"
His lives his life vicariously through himself
His shirts never wrinkle
He is both left handed and right handed
His blood smells like cologne

He is the most interesting man in the world, PeterB.

He doesn't often drink scotch whiskey but when he does, he prefers Single Malt Glenmorangie Cocktails.

Stay thirsty my friends!

We common folk

Thanks for comment about not being a bean counter. Coming from the most interesting man in the world, it is high praise indeed!

Common folk? Common folk? Common folks don't drink "Single Malt Glenmorangie Cocktails". Common folks don't drive around in "Vert Vettes", Common folks don't spend "Hondos"

Very good! You are a man after my own heart. Neat is the only way to enjoy a good whisky

I occasionally will add one or two rocks in mine or chill the snifter with a couple to take it slightly above room temp. FishBone I enjoy a cold cervesa fria too! On those occasions in the garage, poolside or at the ballpark. Of course I choose the champagne of beer Miller High Life!

I just can not drink Vodka, after I tip a couple it makes me sloppy. I start to slurr my words where a fine scotch I can sip and enjoy all day and stay on cruise control... FishBone it was also recommended by my German Dr. SchlongFellow who suggested if your going to drink, enjoy a fine cognac or good scotch... After all the years of drinking Grants, Dewars, Chivas etc. I settle on my favorite single malt Glenmorangie about $36. Try it sometime Dave, you may be surprise at the elegant floral spirit and the smoothness of this single malt 10yr aged whisky, after all they have been producing it in Scotland since 1843... And you know the Scots right? They got stewed and began to enjoy themselves hitting little rocks into holes while they drank until their Glenmorangie was finished at 18 holes in the ground, lol... Then they went home to their women and enjoyed some more

Ann has more miles on her then I'd prefer too ha!. Kidding. She lives in the neighborhood and keeps me company a few times a month. I picked up this bottle on Sat after we hit the $1 Trifecta Box on Chrome and the other pony's unfortunately it din't pay much $18. Better than a poke in the eye with a stick right? It was an exciting race and it covered a couple of the other bets so its all good.

Peter I do not whine. I go out and do what needs to be done. When life throws me a curve ball I dont cry about it or pretend how tough life is while I cruise around in my Vette, fish on my Walleye Boat, come home to a beautiful house and drink $36 bottles of Scotch all at the sametime complaining about the price of a $2 door clip! Give me a break! I may not have 2 nickles to rub together but what I do have I am greatful for and would never flaunt!

Bones maybe whining wasn't the correct choice if words. Teasing would probably have been better... I'm not flaunting anything and if it appears that way my apologies. I certainly don't mean to offend anyone here and especially you. I'm grateful as well for what we have. I appreciate your help and everyone's else's suggestions, trouble shooting and advise. Thank you for your input everyone on all my WJ post issues.

That said FBones I admire you for voicing your opinions. Some people say nothing, hold a grudge and stab you in the back 1st chance they get. Props out to you for being who you are. One thing I will say to you is you may not have as much monetary as you would like yet you are much richer than some people with your loved ones by your side. Your family, health is so much more valuable then resources, cars boats etc...

You did remind me and had I to do my posts over again I would not discuss my personal life as it obviously rubs some the wrong way. I'm not perfect guy, I make mistakes everyday. I was having harmless fun and making the site more enjoyable for us.

I can't help you with tech advise as you are wiser in that area yet if there was something I could do I've be happy to.

FBones enjoy your evening with your family.

Sincerely,

PeterB

So on my way home from work today, I'm thinking because it's my anniversary I ought to stop at the liquor store and pick up a bottle of something special for my special lady and I to share this evening. I grabbed the finest bottle of bum wine.....MD 20/20....Red Grape no doubt. It comes in a bevy of nauseating tropical flavors but only the Red Grape packs the 18% Alcohol! Like the cascading waters of a drain pipe, it coats the system like bathtub scum. After all, if it's good enough for stew bums, it's good enough for an anniversary celebratory cocktail. No evening celebration would be complete without, first a special dinner. After dressing in our finest pair of shorts, we head out to the local Mickey D's and share Big Mac and Quarter Pounder value meals..........ah yes a real treat, I of course got the big mac. After dinner and some wonderfully enticing conversation, we head back home in the 1998 F150..........and open that bottle of joy. It almost feels like High School all over again!

Night all. After a fine evening, I shall retreat to the queen sized bed after a short chess match with the butler.

Livin the dream day after day.

Congratulations on your Anniversary. The location and what you choose to do is all secondary. Being together is the most important thing. Priceless.

Wishing you and your bride many many more. Good luck!

Don't do that, Fishbone! There is too much info in that brain of yours that needs to be shared. I'm assuming that's why you're on this site, same as me. We just need to stay on topic. It's difficult, I know.
