Default Radio/ navigation system for 2004 JGC

My screen on Jeep isn't working . Can't see a thing. I bought a used same type radio/ nav from auto wrecker. I guess it's a little late to ask but will this work with my Jeep, or MUST I get the same serial #
as my radio? I know about the codes and I will be getting VIN # from donor auto which I will then take to Jeep and get the code....I don't have the code for MY radio so don't want to remove it till I know if it's gonna work and have codes for both radios.
HELP.

No, it's plug-and-play... nothing is programmed to the vehicle. Just plug it in and you're good to go. Make sure you can remove the navigation DVD-ROM from the CD player BEFORE removing the broken radio from your Jeep, as you WON'T be able to power the old radio back up once you remove it from your Jeep unless you plug it back in again.

In order to remove the factory radio, all you have to do is pry out the trim piece surrounding the radio that also contains the center air conditioning/heater vents, and remove 4 Phillips-head screws. From there, unplug the antenna and 2 wiring harnesses going into the back of the radio (and the GPS navigation antenna), and plug those wiring connections back into the same places on the new radio. Before reinstalling the screws and trim piece, turn on the ignition to make sure the new radio is working, and then reinstall the screws and trim piece. Once everything is back in place, put the navigation DVD in the CD player, and you're good to go.
