Cool Rear Axle Bearings

How can I find parts numbers for the Rear Axle Bearings for my 1997 Grand Cherokee 4WD. I need to order the correct ones.
Also, I am new to auto mechanics and plan to learn and show my 14 yr old son to work on cars. This 97 is our 1 st attempt and have already tackled a couple things.
Axel bearing are next on the list.

hey Dave,

the R1563 “ repair bearing with seal comes in two styles....
1- with only an outer seal and using the diff oil for lubricant
2- with 2 seals and only using the supplied grease for the life of the bearing.

would like to know peoples experience with these 2 types

in the process now of having to rebuild my D35C ....all the diff bearings and Oem axle bearings are damaged not reusable and the biggest drama I’ve found (more so because I’m in Australia) is finding the correct size “repair” axle bearings... and now wondering about what seal arrangement to use for the axle bearings?

cheers.

Year and half old thread again.

Assuming the 'repair bearing' rides on a different place on the axle shaft so as to avoid the munched up section of the axle shaft, I have used one with success on a 1990 Caprice rear wheel drive. The one I used now that I think about it, was no lube needed, I if I remember right.
Not familiar with these or the 2 styles but likely made 2 difft ways to accomplish the same thing.
Wasn't aware they made them fir the gc.
This would not affect you very often in Australia, but, I just ran into a similar problem here with my snowthrower, the main drive shaft uses a bearing which went and wore the shaft. Same type ball bearing. Soooo.....yep I welded it with a stick welder. Did a crappy job and filed it so it fit the inside of the bearing kind of. Well, it works well enough hopefully to see me through the next month or so.

Year and a half old thread but,
if I had of started a new thread, I’d hazard a guess at the opening comment would be ‘do a search....it’s been covered a gazillion times allready and...
this is the only thread that the search produced for “R1563”.
well if the gc uses the D35C which I believe it does then it fits the same R1563 bearings as in the D35C optioned XJ.
its not the part no/ bearing I’m trying to find... the R1563 or equivalent is the correct unit.... the query is whic is the better option..... the diff oil lubed unit or the sealed greased unit?
