Rear wiper issues - PLEASE HELP!
My wife's 97 ZJ had the rear wiper quit about a year ago. I finally got a remanufactured wiper motor about a month ago and installed it today. The damn thing still won't work. I had checked the fuses previously and rechecked them today - they are good. I have power at the switch (the washer function still works) but I have nothing at the rear wiper motor. I checked that the rear flipper window was closing properly. I am at a loss. Does anyone have an idea as to what I should check next?

Yup. One connector with six pins that "locks" into place. There was no corrosion at the connector. I placed a small dab of dielectric grease on each connector anyway. If I could find a wiring diagram, I would check to see which of the pins had the correct voltage, power, etc.

I have been down this same road with my wifes '98 GC. My advise is to take the wiper motor back and get another one. I have got remans before that were bad. As a matter of fact, I bought three before I got one that worked for hers.

Common cause for the wiper motors not working is the fact that they are
used so rare the grease inside the gear part of the motor get hard and then
freezes the motor up...
Try remove the four screws on the top plate you will
get access to the gear assembly...

I'll give that a shot and see if I might be able to get it greased up. I'm checking into a few other things with the wiring to eliminate any issues there. Once I get this ironed out, I'll post up and let you guys know what it took to resolve this.

You might want to look at the wiring where it comes into the hatch from the body. It constantly flexes just like on the doors and can chafe or even break inside the insulation. My high brake light went out and the cause was a broken wire inside the loom.

My Pain/Your Gain ... Wiper Fixed
Intermittent rear wiper. Replaced motor. Replaced dash switch. Nothing. Here's the Answer:
If your rear window opens, you have a switch on it that detects if it's open and then DISABLES the wiper!!!!! Mine wore out so it always "thought" the window was open = NO WIPER.
I got FOUR wiper motors and THREE dash switches, bought a NEW motor...all for naught. It was that switch which is part of the rear window latch. JUST UNPLUG IT!
