Default Resistor on TPS wire??

When I bought my '97 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0, there was a small resistor put in between one red wire and the ground that go into the connector for the Throttle Position Sensor. I have no idea why it was there and it looked really really jimmy rigged so I took it out....and now the sensor is getting high volts and throwing the "TPS High Volts" code and I need to get inspected ASAP.

The connector reads about 5.05volts. It should be reading about .26v from what I understand. I have no idea how many ohms the resistor was, all I know is that it was pretty small and in between the ground and power wire on the left side of the connector. I need to put one back in asap. Any info on this please let me know.

Anybody that can help please let me know asap. Either leave a reply here or text me at 978-413-3211, I dont mind as I really need this fixed asap.
