Rubber is rubber. You will gain traction with the mt's but not invicibility...

Wrong. If you want more traction in snow, go All Terrain. The big pads on the M/Ts will provide less grip and more slip, even with the kedge grip.

I do not recommend the kedge grip. I got it on my MTs and it seems to to do little more than cause the tires to wear more quickly. And yes, I have driven in snow/ice and wheeled in it too.

If you are wheeling deep unpacked snow(that 12"+ situation listed above), M/Ts will be a better choice. Yet, if you are trying to get down the road/wheel smaller snow falls go with A/Ts. Last winter I wheeled with my buddy on 31" A/T Gabbers and he left me behind on many of the hill climbs. For the pure fact he got more traction.

True. I don't know about the retreads but I have run both, toyo and bf goodrich mt's and never had any issues wiith the snow. As far as hill climbing goes. lockers and or possi takes care of that. WARN says it best. GO PREPARED. Toss in limited slip on both front and rear and you'll do fine in almost every situation. At least that's been my experience. I wheel in sand, snow, mud and clay. I'll take MT over AT any day of the week

Adding a locker or LSD takes the conversation away from pure tire to traction aids. I too would take an M/T on my Jeep any day of the week, but if you are going to be daily driving your rig and want good traction in the snow get a set of A/Ts. The pic above indicates a typical snowy drive and I answered accordingly. Not taking away from what you said, because you spoke the truth.
