Rocker arm and pushrod questions!! Please help!
What I’m working on is a 1994 Grand Cherokee 4.0L. So I started working on my Jeep over at a buddies house (head gasket replacement). I had the engine torn apart down to where I needed. Of course this means removal of the pushrods and rocker arms. I punched some holes in a box and lined them up in the order they came out, like I was advised. He got mad at me over some kid **** and got petty. He’s definitely not mechanically inclined but I guess he listens. Because upon arrival to pick up my Jeep, I find my rods and rockers scattered about, all out of order. I was just wondering what parts I’m going to need to order? I’ve read that push rods can go back in no particular order but not rocker arms but I’d like some backup clarification on that. Also, what should I be looking at spending? Would y’all advise buying high end parts or is this something I can save a little money on? Thanks in advance and if you have any extra knowledge to throw my way that you think I forgot to ask about, I’m all ears! Thank you guys so much for even taking the time to read! All advice is greatly appreciated. First post here, normally you guys have already solved any question I have had and I’m sure thankful for it!!

If it were me and my engine I would buy new pushrods and rocker arms just to be safe. Enginetech or Meling is the brand I'd go, Rockauto usually has decent prices. Make sure to use plenty of assembly oil/lube.
Most likely if you slap the old parts back in the engine it will make clicking noise because the miss-matched parts were not broke in together. May also cause some of the valves to not open all the way either, especially when the parts wear together over time.

Replace them anyhow, and be sure to learn how to set them up. They're non adjustable but you still need to check and set the preload.
Other threads here to tell how to do that, I recommend the count the turns method.

Sorry to ask such a potentially silly question but which of these would be ideal for rocker arms

If you don't know how to set up valve lash on non adjustable lifters it's time to learn. If you blow off setting the valve lash (preload) not only will they click but you will blow a lifter and loose oil pressure out it. If not the new parts will grind up like parmesan cheese and you'll be selecting the 'complete engine kit' from rockauto.
If you do it right they will all oil perfectly be completely silent and work great with the new parts.

Old fart with a wrench
When you buy the pushrods, make sure they are the same length as yours, which I believe are 9.639". Rockauto's listing for the Enginetech ones say 9.639", but the info display says 9.650". If they are the longer length, this can change your preload settings.
I bought the Melling.

Interesting, I wasn't fully aware they sold different lengths on rockauto. I know you can order them. The shims from CompCams? are the way to go, (I cant quite remember if it was compcams?) But I did have one that wouldn't quite come it the way I wanted it to, but it was still just in spec, Might have liked to try a different length rod. As long as you actually DO set the lash, you will see what is too long or short anyhow. most likely all of that can be adjusted out with the shim kits
