Question Rocky Mountain Qustion Ahh! Id Appreciate It

heyy guys
my dads thinking about buying a jeep cherokee rocky mountain 2005 or 2006 edition
a guy is selling it but i was really curious about one thing, thought id give this website a shot
anyhow, on the backside of the car, it say "LAREDO"
"4X4"
but yet when i went inside the car there were no options at all to put the car is 4x4 mode etc..
its got a 3.7L V6 engine
pleaseee.. help me out asap

Are you 100% sure its not a 4x4? Is there a differential in the front?

im not sure at all
the guy at the store says it is but i thnk hes BS
hes worst at cars than myself
i own a lumina ss 2000 but selling it to get this
again, no switches, controls to toggle on/off the 4X4 option on the interior

I beleave that after '04 some Grand(and Commanders) don't have a switch for 4 wheel drive in some packages. They have a "slip" sensitive transfercase. It decides if you need wheel or not.

All you need to do is look under it for the front drive shift if you see one than that's why, if not your being had..

I own a commander and there is a lil switch next to the gear shifter that will let you go to four low other than that it is all time 4 wheel drive. the switch is chrome just to the bottom right of the regular gear shifter. The grand cherokee should have similiar interior from what i have seen. Of cousre just look to see if there is a diff up front and a t-case behind the tranny.
