Confirmed - Fixed my noisy belt!

96' ZJ 5.2

I narrowed the noise down to the power steering pump and found the pulley to be out of alignment. Found this thread, took the pump off and sure enough the bracket was cracked.

Thanks a lot for posting, saved me a lot of trouble.

Update: I picked up the new bracket at the dealer for $40. They had the part in stock, looks like this is a common issue.

Installation went smooth and the noise is gone. Also, it appears the engine turns over faster, idles more regular and overall the serpentine belt flows like butter.

Seeing the improvements Makes me wonder how much additional stress was being placed on everything with the pump being so far out of alignment.

Anyway, thanks again for posting.
