Service 4wd switch ZJ
I know I need to check the switch to see if it came loose or was damaged which is common from what I hear but the first problem is where is the switch? I'm assuming something with the transfer case but I'm not sure.

I don't think it's a switch. It's a diagnostic parameter, a function of the PCM. What it senses, I have no idea.
