Skim/lp circuit large amp draw
Hi, have a 2000 grand Cherokee that has a large amp draw on battery with key off. Isolated circuit to #7 skim/lp. When pulled jeep has minimal draw, when in battery will run down in 3-4 days. Skim has keyless entry, bcm, auto lighting and heating controls on it. Was wondering if anyone has had this problem or could offer how some advice on how to track down the large draw further. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The Security Key Immobilizer Module is under the steering column opening cover, attached to the bottom side of the steering column housing. It's functions are listed here. Click image to enlarge. >->http://www.wjjeeps.com/modules.htm
Here's some info about the SKISystem. >->http://www.wjjeeps.com/sentry.htm

Hi, I had a similar start problem. It was a 20 dollar crank sensor. If the sensor is not working, you can crank all day long, but no fuel will be sent to the injectors.
Get a code reader and I bet it will be a bad crank sensor. Good luck

If im not mistaken the CPS would be a magnetic pick up for crank position, Fuel pump should govern fuel pressure. I get that the injectors may not open without the timing, but he states no fuel in the rails. As soon as key is in the on and engine off position, those rails should build pressure, unless there were a fuel pump related issue. Unless he is out of gas....

You may be right about the fuel pressure, but it would be easy enough to eliminate the cps by testing for a code. I have seen a lot of no start problems fixed by a bad sensor as the vehicle gets older. Just trying to give other possibilities.

Fuse #7 skim/hoodlp FIGURED IT OUT
I know this is and old post old, but there are many S.B, JGC's out there and I thought I got a bargin when I bought mine for $1000, well, I did only because I do my own work, otherwise I'd have been SKREEEWED! The large battery drain I traced to fuse#7 skim/hood/lp traced back to the passenger side FOB module, which is part of the passenger front door window/lock switch assembly (see attached pics). I ordered a used one because I have a DORMAN programable FOB, otherwise there is a guy selling matched modules with remote on ebay for $50. In total, I traced 7 wires from fuse #7 but suspected the two (tan) large gauge wires and sure enough I found the one, tan with a black stripe, running to the passenger front door FOB module assembly. Chrysler should have left jeep alone!

I know this post is old but newer users like me go straight to this post for a reply. I see newer posts on this thread from 2019 too. I can confirm for future 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee owners, it is the passenger door window control module that is causing the PCI voltage of 7v at the #7 fuse in the interior fuse box. I also got 7v activity at the PCI shunt under the steering wheel at pin #8. Here is a great video for helping new techs to figure the pervious steps out.
