Im looking at another Jeep, its a 98 4.0 Laredo but has painted side panels like the limited. The interior has grey leather seats, CD player and so forth engine runs fine.. However the car wouldnt shift out of 2nd gear, im not sure what that was.. Check engine light wasnt on, he said he cant remember if he ever changed the fluid so im thinking its that altho i dunno... He has service records for the car so other then this it looks like in good shape..

Any idea's what can cause the transmission to stick in 2nd gear, he said when he drives sometimes it will shift normally but other times it will stick in 2nd and not shift

The pop-pop-pop noise.... that is more likely the full-time transfer case is locking up and the front axle is binding. The viscous coupler wears out and the Jeep ends up running around in 4wd all the time.

The floppy brake pedal is the ABS controls going wonkers. You have to push the pedal WAY down to get brakes, or pump them every stop. Someone may have changed the brakes incorrectly and pushed brake fluid back into the line, causing the check valve to fail.

is stuck or won't change past 2nd? can you reverse? ****ty and low fluid levels will prevent changes into the higher gears. so too will a failing pump and worn out bands. so it may be a fluid change or a rebuild... are you a gambling man
