Default Something Wrong in Wiring or Security System

I have an '02 Grand Cherokee Lerado. Three or four times I have gone out and cranked it up after it had been sitting overnight and the headlights and interior lights came on and the overhead indicator showed the two rear doors and the hatch were not closed even though they were. Nothing would turn off the lights, light switch or turning off the vehicle. Only way to stop it is to remove the battery cable. The other day when I started it up under the same conditions, the alarm system went off, horn blowing, flashers flashing, and the lights on. Stopped it by removing the battery cable. This morning, I cranked up, everything normal, drove about 6 miles, switched it off for about 10-15 minutes, got in it and cranked up, the lights came on, headlights and interior, indicator showed the doors open, and the darn wipers came on in what I'd say was the lowest intermittent speed and like always, the switches had no control over the lights or wipers until I removed the battery cable. Any Ideas where to start????

Let me add a little more. Today when I cranked up, it was raining so I turned on the wipers and headlights. The instrument lights came on then went off and the wipers quit working, headlights still on. I was trying all the switches to see if anything would make any difference. The alarm went off one time, lights flashing and horn blowing but quit when I turned the ignition off. Several times when the instrument lights went out, the odometer and the radio light started blinking on and off and you could hear a sylonoid or relay clicking somewhere under the dash. It didn't reset or quit today when I removed the battery cable. Took several times before it went to normal.

Want to add another weird thing it's doing. Got ready to leave church tonight, got ready to get in and neither front door would turn on interior lights when you opened them. the back doors would turn them on but the lights blinked. Got in and cranked up, it started the clicking under the dash and the odometer, radio lights, and the headlights were blinking. Turned the headlight switch on and everything started working like it should, even the front door working the interior lights. Drove home and switched it off and cranked it back up a couple times and everything worked like it's supposed to.

I'd start looking at your grounds! Sounds like the Body Control Module is confused.

jlmclean, did you ever find a solution to this? I have a similar issue in my pre-97 XJ.

No, I never got it fixed. I had surgery in October and a piston broke (I 'm pretty sure). Anyway it started knocking and I haven't been in good enough shape to start working on it again. However all that being said, I think the ground solution makes sense. It seemed to be worse on damp, rainy days. Matter of fact if it was pretty weather several days in a row, everything acted normal. very seldom had any problems. I just left a battery post loose where I could remove it in case of a malfunction. That always seemed to straighten out it's thinking.
