sometimes wont start-98 grand cherokee 6cylinder
my jeep grand cherokee sometimes wont start. it starts fine first thing in morning, drive ten miles to town, turn off, cool down for about a half hour, then restart and sometimes it has a hard time starting, sometimes it will start right up. it acts like its going to start (keeps cranking) but it doesnt turn over till i push the gas pedal all the way to floor and then it starts and sputters but starts. my mechanic says i shouldnt have to do that though cuz its fuel injected. oops. anyway, my mechanic (my cousin) is thinking it is fuel filter clogged but im hoping not cuz on my yr '98 it is in the gas tank. i replaced the coil, distibutor cap, and rotor cuz they were bad, but still not working correctly. also, cleaned the battery cables. when it gets going it runs great, its just sometimes it decides it doesnt want to start right up. doesnt matter if its warmed up or had a chance to cool down. any ideas?? dont want to have to go the gas tank route if i dont have to. thanks for any help.
