Stuck in Lower Gear - GC 4x4 2.7 CRD Auto
Anyone had a similar problem when trying to accelerate the gear change upwards doesn't happen and remains in the lower gear. I also noticed some electrical issues at the same time. panel indicator for ABS and the reverse light doesn't come on although reverse gear works. Auto Gear Lever position panel lights flicker and go off.

Sounds electrical to me but you probably already assumed that. Maybe a loose connector or failing relay. Might start with pulling codes, that may give you a basic direction to look. There is a connector at the trans right beside and slightly above the shift linkage. Make sure it is seated good and maybe check to make sure the connector/pins are not corroded too.

I had this problem with a Durango. A cheap possible fix is the transmission speed sensor. As the transmission functions, a tiny ammount of metal is bound to end up in the tyranny fluid. The speed sensor is a magnetic sensor. Sometimes they collect too much debris to fix. Mine cost less than ten bucks, and less than ten minutes to change. Only tool I needed was an open ended wrench.
