I have a 1996 Grand Cherokee limited 5.2. I have heard of people switching out the all wheel drive t-case with a 2 wheel drive t-case. Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me.

Do you mean a 242T- case? As in the one that comes with the 4.0L's? has 2WD/part time 4Hi, Full time 4Hi and 4Lo? I do not think that the GC/XJ 242 will bolt up, but there are other Mopars that have 231/242s that will bolt to your trans.

well there is no just 2wd tcase that i know of that would be just the transmission and drive shaft.. no need for tcase .. but if your talking about switching a all wheel drive grand cherokee to make it so you can pick 4wd or 2wd then idk how the all wheel drive setup works but im sure you could put a transfer case in it somehow.. and plus i heard of all wheel drive jeeps only once maybe you missworded your question

yeah I did missword what I was trying to say. I want to be able to put it into 4 wheel and take it out. thanks guys. This will help alot.
