Unhappy Temp gauge only prob after engine swap!

I blew my engine on my 95 grand Cherokee . I found an 98 grand cherokee engine and put it in . Everything works fine except for the temp Gauge . I noticed on the 95 engine block there was a sensor near the bak of the block. As far as I'm concerned the engines were identical except fo this sensor. On the 98 block this sensor is no longer on the back of the engine. So now I have the temp
sensor plug just hanging there Because there is no where to plug it in with the new engine. Does any one know how I could get this temp gauge working ?Somebody help me !

You need to have a shop weld an aluminum block to the t-stat housing and drill n tap it. Them splice on extra wire to get it to the housing and plug it in. I had the same problem . Mine was a 98 going into a 96. Same thing. All it does is run the gauge and thats it. I drove mine for a year befor fixing it.

Do You know the name of the drill and tap kit or where I could get it ? More specific detail on parts needed for this the t stat housing is kinda small to weld a block too but I guess it can be done . Any body else got suggestions for this prob? Let me know thanks for the help . Thanks for the post dude it put me In a good direction

If you look closely at the back of the head on the driver side you will see a small plug. I belive it is a 5/16 square drive. That is where your temp gauge sensor is installed. Don't try to pigtail off the sensor by the t-stat housing or you signal to the computor will be skewed and it will run bad.
