Default Thermostat or Water Pump problem?

My 2001 Cherokee Limited 4.7 v8 started heating up this morning it pretty much stays on Normal but this morning it cranked up to hot and I had to pull over. The indicator in the jeep keeps telling me coolant low but I fill it up and its fine for a couple days then I guess its burning up because its not leaking out at all. Also the fan in front of the radiator has been getting super loud while its idling. I dont know much about the matienence of my vehicle outside of the basics so any help would be appreciated.

Maybe open the thermostat and check if it got stuck. and also with regarding losing water with no leaks. my water bottle used to stay full but my radiator would run empty, but there was no noticeable leaks. I replaced my radiator cap and the problem was solved. It could be the same with yours.

Just a side note. when you put the thermostat housing back on it is vital to torque. I cracked mine because I was too lazy to get the torque wrench and tightened it too much. That was an expensive lesson to learn.

Just as RSAJEEP stated, I have seen it a more than once where the radiator cap had failed and the vehicle keep loosing coolant with no visible signs of leaks. Do you have a pressure tester? If not try and see if anyone has one you can borrow and pressure test your system to see if it holds pressure. Here is a video I know its not a jeep but the idea is all the same.
