Default Tire/wheel combo questions for 03 WJ

I've been looking for the right WJ and I think I;m going to pull the trigger on a 03 Limited with 53,000 on it. I'm planning on going with a 4" lift and 33"s, and I'm wondering what size tire will fit on the stock wheels, and if going aftermarket what backspace I should be looking for. If I can get away with the stock rims for now that would be a help

Thx

It's a Cherokee Forum and no one knows the answer to this?

You've gotta give it more than an hour or so to get an answer, especially with a GC. This is definitely more of chat than tech btw.
You're going to need to trim the bumper to run 33's.
You can run a 12.50, but I wouldn't recommend it IMO. Especially if you plan on wheeling on the stock rims. After market look for an 8 or 10 inch wide rim if you want to run 33x12.50. A 4" backspacing is good fit.
Good luck with the buy

BTW, this is also an OPINION site. Not all replies are fact and only the opinion of the poster. Keep that in mind. You'll have to make your own decisions.

My personal opinion is to run 265/70r16 and 4inch back spacing. I have the 4inch Rough country lift and I run 255/75r17 on Moab wheels. I have had to trim some off my front bumper but they seem to run okay. One thing that I would recommend is to get a lift that has adjustable upper and lower control arms that way you can adjust your caster down so that you will not have problems with death wobble. Make sure, that if you decide to put a lift in, that all of your parts are in good condition. if not you may want to replace them. One thing that I would recommend is to NOT get a lift that has a bracket that lowers the stock track bar. I would get a lift that has an adjustable track bar that way you don't experience what I have dealt with, Death Wobble. I would also recommend visiting www.kevinsoffroad.com to get an additional steering stabilizer or buy their dual stabilizer kit. I purchased the additional stabilizer kit and it has helped with my Death wobble problem. I do have some other parts to replace to take care of the Death Wobble, but I purchased the extra stabilizer because it was recommended to do so. I hope that this doesn't discourage you from buying the Jeep WJ. I love mine and they look awesome with a lift and the correct tire and rim combo. If you want, you can check mine out in my profile. Good Luck and if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.
