Towing A Trailer with a GC 2005
Here's a question for the tech's on the board. I pulled up to a trailer I was going to pull. The hitch was about 5" smaller than the ball. So in order to get the two to marry up, we found a guy in the shop that weight 300 lbs to sit on the back bumper while we put the trailer on, and it worked! We got it all setup, but then came to find out, that the front end of the GC was a little high off the ground (wheels still on the ground), but you could tell. So we added a weight distributation to it and it lower it a bit. You could tell that the front end was a still a little high off the ground (wheels still on the ground tho). So what can I do to put MOST of the weight back on the front after the trailer is hitch? Even my horse (weights 1,000 lbs) didn't make any differents.

So the hitch was 5 inches lower than the ball on your Jeep?
Sounds like the trailer is just too heavy and should not be pulled with a Jeep. I am assuming the trailer was empty when this happened...

I guess I said that wrong? The ball that is on the hitch which is attached to the jeep is 5" taller than the hitch on the trailer. I guess I should of said that I have a GC, 2005, with a V8 HEMI which can tow no more than 12,000 lbs. Jeep weights 3,100 lbs, trailer weights 3,000 lbs and the horse weights 1,000 lbs. Adding them all up you get 7,000 lbs.

Are you sure the towing capicity is 12000lbs? That may be the GVWR, which is the weight of the vehicle plus the trailer and all cargo and passengers.
A Chevy Tahoe has the capicity of like 8000lbs and that has a stronger frame structure.
And if the trailer tongue was lower than the hitch, shouldnt the trailer tongue have a jack on it so you could just raise it to the proper height?
My dad was looking to get a WK, but we have a boat that weighs about 7000lbs. The guy at the dealership said that would be too much for the uni-body without the proper distributing equipment. That may be what you need.

I think you need a lower/adjustable ball mount. http://www.etrailer.com/p-80412.htm

Thanks for the info. I will go out and re-measure them both tomorrow. If it's the ballmount as explained in the picture, how do I get my weight distributation hitch that I purchase accept it? It's a pro-Eagle.
If you click on this link it will take you to what I'm using.
