Oh, I guess I'll go out and deliver a 4 part Sunday newspaper. Are you just posting those pictures to show us what we're missing or what? It must be nice to have a life as full as yours.

Don't get me wrong! I'm just green with envy. When my wife was alive and we both worked, we were knocking down about 50 to 60K a year and had a lot of fun. Now she's gone and I'm retired with disability, I'm having trouble keeping a roof over my head and my jeep running.

Before I got married, I drag raced and rode dirt bikes. Now, I just walk around my property looking at stuff I need to do. It's hell to get old.

LOl hahhahha I wish brotha.
Dont feel bad there are many times I go out and come home with the newspaper too, if you know what I mean

There was a time when I was young & full of energy too. Now I'm middle aged & single as well. Too many lonely meals for guys like us.

My condolences. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss Dave. It's very difficult as we mature seeing loved ones go with God.
That said we have those wonderful memories to keep us at peace.

I was in the wholesale mortgage biz with Countrywide for years prior to the real estate market collapse. I did OK.
Now days I'm unemployed, divorcing and the getting isn't what it used to be. Now I have a handful of old tired toys, 16yr old touring bike, 14yr Ranger, 13yr sport car and my daily driver a 12 yr old JGC that requires service nonstop. My greatest blessing is my son Nicholas PeterB (8) I'm happy to provide what I can for him and his mother, monthly child support, health insurance costs, child care, sporting programs etc. etc. You're quite right though Dave I'm very grateful for what I have in my life. I thank GOD every day for everything and count my Blessings. I suggest others do as well.

Kinda like the man that complained his shoes had holes in them,
Until he saw the man that had no feet.

Boy that was depressing stuff to start the day.

Lets see if we can cheer thing up a bit...

Here Dave, its kind of windy out today, maybe you could give Alice a helping hand.

She's wrapped her doggies leash around her shapely legs and was puzzled why she smelled like fish?

Hey John, thanks again for the information on these ground straps.

Its was easypeesy. Thanks for letting me know where they go and everything. I appreciated it guy.

Went ahead and wrapped it behind on grounded it under the coil you recommended.

Its still hard to phantom what these grounds are for??

Tomorrow is going to be our 1st day in the 80*'s so I thought to get the AC charged since the previous mechanic worked on the engine, disconnected the AC hoses and never bothered to re charge the system.
What a card that mam is. Unbelievable.

There's a foul dirty mechanics rag smell now that the compressor is running comming out of the vents.
Yuk. (maybe that's due to my blend door issue??) I guess I'd rather be cool in 80/90*'s traffic with a foul smell then hot sweaty with no AC.

I believe I got a good deal at $60 bucks to recharge professionally and add the die in case there is a a leak. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. That there isn't but well see.

Also thanks again FishBone for the lead on those EVIC bulbs got them installed and now all the Homelinks are illuminated.
Thank you. You're the best!

Enjoy your evening with your family. Good night guys.

Well Peter it's nice to see you've finally tackled some of those repairs. Hopefully your electrical problems are resolved. Can't wait to hear about the blend door repairs.

Don't feel bad about the deal you got on your Jeep. I am on my first Jeep and have a similar model, same year, similar price range. I am convinced that it takes a certain person to own a Chrysler built Jeep: One with patience, perseverance and a fat wallet.

Peter, try changing your cabin air filter and spraying the intake area with Fabreze with the A/C on. You probably have mold in the air ducts. Clorox Cleanup will work if you can stand THAT smell.

Peter, by the way, when you get the blend doors completed, it is normal for your ac to come on by itself. As I mentioned, it completely got by me on your original post that you had dual zone infrared system. I know I got bashed for saying that by someone over on the other forum who obviously posts on here as well. Remember, I never claimed to be a Jeep expert. As they say I know a little about everything but a lot about nothing. I apologize for the misleading information.

Yes. Thank you Dave I will try that Clorox as the odor is rancid. My Royal Pine trees can't contain it. Yuk is an understatement.

Sure I'll change that out too. Where do I find that cabin filter?

There must be mold in there is right either that or I have no idea what? It's not a dead smell, like a field mouse or something its a dirty oil rag smell?? Its in the compressor cause since the AC was charged (thank GOD, it worked good today 87* in ChiTown) it has an peculiar dirty mechanics rags smell or something... It smells like it in the mornings too shortly after starting it I can smell it in the vents Once the AC cools the vehicle its not as noticeable or strong as initially?

Again thank you for the tip Dave I appreciate it. Any one else? Btw How are you doing today?
I hope its going well for you today dave1123.

As for you my Jeep forum member friend; FishBone's in the hourse! Nothing to apologize for young man, everything is cool as a cucumber. You have been more helpful than anyone I have met here and for that I grateful and thank you.

Yes. I was on the phone with the WholesaleMopar.com Co. Today ordering the blend door kit $80 not sure if you can save a few bucks anywhere else but I plan on pulling the trigger over the next day or so. Fishbone I noticed my left console vents, closest to the window hardly blow any air out while the others rock?

I'm also going to order that rear passenger side door switch and change it out, it just doesn't feel right. When you engage it down its kinda mushy, feels like it's broken, it doesn't have that click'ing feel. I know the parts guy told me to take the cover off and investigate as some of the bars/rods in there sometimes bend and don't hit the clicker or ?..

Any other suggestion or ideas on this too? Thank you guys. Enjoy your evening. Good night.

PeterB.

My understanding is that the CAF was only optional and never standard?
I like the idea of Fabreezing the intake area! Might just try that on mine, I don't have the CAF though.

CONGRATS PETER!!! And your welcome. Glad to see those straps bolted down, but more importantly you saved money, car trouble, and I'm glad I was able to help.
I'm nit picky about things being out of place and noticed the tab around one of the wires above your valve cover not being bolted down. I can only imagine what the PO's mechanic did or didn't do when reinstalling the motor.
The CAF is located on the passenger side under the black plastic between the hood and windshield. Directly under your wiper arm. It should be a long skinny rectangular vent looking piece. You can see it if you stand by your passenger tire looking through the hood strut.

Trust me John that guys is a Bum! Capital B. What a shyster. A nightmare of a garage used car salesman. Who knows is right. He left stuff off, didn't charge the AC and then some...Gosh had I only known prior I definitely would not have bought the car.

I know what you mean I'm not sure where that clamp goes either. I looked around but didn't see where. I plan on just taking it off, I guess.

You my friend JMonts have been the second person who has been more than kind in helping me. Thank you John for everything. I'll look for that Caf and see if I have it, if I do it will be getting a new filter and spraying the vents down!

John do you ever eat Mexican food? If you like it, there's a place in Chicago its on the near south on on 18th St. just East of Ashland Ave. Called Nuevo Leon.

Without exaggeration they have the best Huevos Rancheros in the world and its only like $6 with a diet coke.
This morning after I dropped of my son at school I had a taste for it and drove down. Outstanding!

Sloppy looking plate this time but with 5 corn tortillas its really delicious Its the red sauce that has just the right spice in it. Naturally I top it off with a pickle (jalapeno) to kick it up a couple notches.

A cold spicy Bloody Mary and an ice cold Corona alongside I'm sure would wash it down good but usually I do the soda.
Yup I like good ethnic foods! Its a part of what life is all about isn't it? Good food! Love it. Abundansa! Mancia mancia.

Hahahahhaha... Delicious breakfast man.

I stopped at the Lakefront, Burham Harbor for a nice walk afterwards, That's the harbor across from Soldiers Field (where the Monsters of the Midway. Home of the Chicago Bears) where the multi million dollar yachts are making their way down and are harbored. Man it must be nice to have that kinda $cratch

Picked this 17" male starting to stage for the upcoming spawn. Put up a good fight after hitting the spinner bait like a freightrain... LOL.

Beautiful colors... See ya later Mr Bronzeback and thanks for the trill

I hope you enjoyed the quick view around Chicago John. Maybe sometime you'll make it over. If so a good meal and drinks are on me.

Peter I cannot really comment on the price of those blend doors, I never had to buy them. Shop it around online, try Ebay. Just make sure if you go on Ebay, you're not getting garbage. Wouldn't want to replace garbage with garbage.

The vent issue you mentioned is likely due to the blend door issue.

As for your door, now I am strictly going off memory here and it's not 100% solid advice but I believe the failure on those has to do with the indicator rod. It is a metal rod that comes through the door and attaches to the back side of the door panel just under the handle at the lock/unlock indicator. That would be that slide piece that you see just under the handle with the redish, orange mark on it. What happens is that sometimes it doesn't slide freely and causes the misalignment of the rod inside the door creating a drag on the rod almost as if it's jammed. Thus when you push the door unlock button you get the sluggish response. Taking off the door panel on these models is very easy. Only a couple of screws and the rest of the panel is secured with the push clips so, you just simply pry (gently) away the panel from the door taking care not to further damage that rod once it's free from the door. Once inside you can try some spray lube on all the connection points of those rods and spray some on the back side of that slider in the door panel. See if that works. I think as a last resort, and again this is not 100%, I think the only purpose that rod serves is to provide that indication of the door being locked or unlocked and for manual locking from inside. I think we completely removed that rod on a friends jeep years ago. Once again the disclaimer as I am not completely sure you can remove the rod and still maintain proper operation with the elect door locks. Perhaps in your case it is the door actuator and replacing that will solve your problem.

Thank you Fishbone. I'm not going to mess with EBay, I ordered them today from that Wholesale joint for $88. Its a kit is what they call it including all the parts to repair it. Wish me luck I have a feeling I'm going to need it

As pertains to the door, once I take that panel off (I know about the door clips already, yeah they're reaaaaaal proud of those at $3 a piece) I'll inspect what your referencing. Knowing you I'm sure you're right on. I did go ahead and get the door switch $27 too to avoid additional shipping just in case that's shot too if not, I have an understanding with them I can return it if I don't open it.

My son Nicholas PeterB (8) is making his 1st Communion tomorrow, so we have suits and ties to try on but before that boring stuff out front we go for some batting/catching practice

TTYL and thanks for your help. Its greatly appreciated.

Here is the Mopar Cabin Air Filter Kit if you don't have one and would like to add it.
It's on my wish list. Along with a charcoal replacement filter for it.

I like Mexican food. Have you heard of Chuys? Hand made tortilla's, out of this world. They are more Tex-Mex though. There are area around Nashville where you can get authentic mexican, from a food truck.
I have been told I need to try Chicago style deep dish pizza if I ever go. Have a great weekend.

I thought you mentioned something about the pasenger side uptop but as you can see, the only thing I see is the die on my AC leaking out!!

Yes, I drove my other vehicle so today when I got in the Jeep (mid 80*s today) NO odor but no AC too?? So I went ahead and took a looksee and saw the greenish die on my AC hose

Name: image42.jpeg
Views: 104

Nonstop man. I suppose that means that I'll need to spend some more $ on that upper AC hose ha? Can't drive a car without AC in Chicago traffic in 90* humidity... Anybody have any suggestions?

Name: image41.jpeg
Views: 133

What happens to these hoses? Seals they just get old and fail ha?

Doesn't appear to be that difficult of an installation? Any trouble shooting tips

Thank you.

Oh Peter, Peter, Peter! If you can determine that you've found the leaky hose and have determined that you have access to both ends of the hose, you can replace it yourself. BUT.........you'll need to ensure the system is properly evacuated prior to doing any work. Based on what I see and you've said, I would venture to guess the system is already evacuated....LOL However, you should take it back to your AC guy and have him properly evacuate it. You have some options for a new hose. If you have anyone in your area that make pressure hoses, you can take yours and have them make you a new one, you can go to the scrap yard and take a chance or you can order a new one. After you make repairs, return to your AC guy and have him recharge.

Keep smiling Peter. You own a Jeep!
