Trailhawk "Premium" seats
So my question today is does anyone besides me have issues with seat covers deteriorating? I own a 2018 Trail Hawk and the sides of the seat covers look like the grand canyon with cracks in the "Premium Seat" covers I do no think this should happen after 2.5 years and just 25K on the odometer at all. Jeep (FMC) denied my claim under warranty as unwarrantable. I would really like to get Cherokee owners input on how your driver seat is holding up and if any have tried to get repaired under warranty.

Welcome to the forum.
Does the vehicle have the standard Trailhawk Leather / Suede seats, or the optional Trailhawk Leather Trim seats w/ Perf?
Can images be posted showing the issue?

The 2018 Jeep 3-year/36,000 Mile Basic Limited Warranty says: "The Basic Limited Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair any item on your vehicle when it left the manufacturing plant that is defective in material, workmanship or factory preparation."
It sounds like the warranty is being denied because the parts were not defective when they left the factory.

3/36 is bumper to bumper. It’ll cover everything except tires, brakes, and service unless it was caused by abuse or neglect. No questions asked. What you left out was why Chrysler wouldn’t cover it. I worked with Lexus and Toyota for over 20 years. Not once have I seen something like this not covered unless it was the customers fault. Then 99% of the time we would fix it anyway. For that mileage a repair is out of the question and the cover should be replaced. Something seems weird. What did the service manager at the dealer tell you?
BTW this is the Xj forum. I think your Jeep is a KL.
sorry I should’ve directed you there.

I don't know if the leather is covered by the factory (3yr/36k mile) bumper-to-bumper warranty, as there are several factors that would cause the leather to wear. I've seen leather-equipped rental cars (not Jeeps) with slightly worn seats at 20k-40k miles, but not this bad. If you explain your issue to your dealer, they might do it as a "goodwill" repair. If they won't, take it around to some local upholstery shops, and see what they'd suggest doing. The warranty in-service date starts when the original owner titles the brand new vehicle.
I believe your Trailhawk's seats are vinyl on the outer parts, with cloth inserts.

Normal leather wear is to be expected. Wrinkles and dirt in the wrinkles can make it look bad, but isn’t a warranty issue. When there’s an actual crack or discoloring due to how it was dyed, that is something that would be covered. I agree that does look like leather, but should be covered under a 3/36. Like you mentioned, the date of first use and/or mileage is probably the issue.
