Uconnect reset and no longer play audio from iphone via lightning cable/usb
A few days ago, I got in my 2014 Grand Cherokee (summit) and all my XM stations were reset (lost presets) and all my saved favorite saved artists were gone. I did not get a warning that an update was going to be installed like I did a month or two ago.
I'm currently on 18.13.17 - not sure if this is new version or not, I just got the version number from the info/setting page.
I checked my VIN with uconnect site and it said 18.45.01 is available if I want to download/install it, but the notes say this just addresses some GPS fixes, nothing related to audio.
As frustrating as it is to add my stations back (not that big of a deal) and add the tons of favorited artists (that part sucks), the real issue I have is that I can no longer play audio from my phone via usb. I used that daily for my Plex server playing and occasional spotify usage. It still will read the track info and display cover art, and even skip to next track if I forward on the iphone/steering wheel/dash-screen, but audio will not play.
Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this? I can still play through bluetooth, but really liked my prior USB setup (especially since that is the only way for album art to show on the screen, bluetooth is only the generic music symbol). I've tried different cables, no luck.
Tempted to rip this damn system out and replace it with one of those aftermarkets that allow CarPlay, but hesitant as I have a paid lifetime mopar warranty on this and only have 48K miles on it and plan to keep for a while.
Thanks for any suggestions/help.

Do a "hard reset" on the system by doing the following:
1.) Press the Start/Stop button to put the vehicle into 'ACC' or 'RUN'/'ON' mode (don't press your foot on the brake to start the Jeep).
2.) Hold down the Volume/Power and Tune/Enter ***** for the radio, holding them at the same time until the screen goes blank (this will take approx. 30 seconds, so don't let go of the buttons until the screen goes blank).
3.) Turn off the Jeep by pressing the Start/Stop button.
4.) Open the front driver's side door, and leave it open for approx. 30 seconds (set a timer on your phone).
5.) Close the door, and restart the Jeep by pressing the Start/Stop button (you can press your foot on the brake, and restart the Jeep this time, if you'd like).
6.) The UConnect system will now reboot. Let it boot back up, and see if the issue persists.
