I don't think I would go so far as to say that the entire transfer case is junk. I just think the stupid VC in them is junk. It is a pretty strong case. I think the torque failure point is a little higher than the 231 and 242 but it hangs just a little bit lower. I really wish there was some sort of way to replace the VC with something more reliable, then it would be a decent case. Either way, I'm still swapping in a 231.
