Nah, I just served my 4 and got out. Still had the draft in my time. I stood the Cuban Blockade. Closest thing to combat without bullets flying. We tried to keep Russian subs out of Cuba when they escorted their freighters. I was in an anti-sub squadron on the USS Wasp.

@ Dave, NLON's a bit of a haul from E. Haven with a shot waterpump haha. Plus their base PD has a tendency to hassle Coasties, at least the last time I had to go to a school there.

I'm in sunny Tacoma, WA. Stationed @ McChord AFB for the second time. Can't wait till its over so I can hopefully move back to the SW again.

My garage is always open for fellow gearheads, I do it for the beer n' conversation.

I'm just barely 9 years in, so I'm about half way to retirement myself. Fingers crossed for Florida this transfer season, I'm from the Northeast but after being stationed in the south I just can't stand snow anymore.

I'm originally from RI and spent time in Boston. I've got respect for Coasties, having dealt with them as a civilian on Narragansett Bay. Also, my uncle flew Air Sea Rescue in Kodiac, Alaska. Could he tell stories! Wow!

I don't know if Florida would be good duty. Drug interdiction is dangerous. It's combat, plain and simple! I couldn't believe it when they sent you guys to Iraq!

I hate winters here in Syracuse, but once it starts greening up in the spring, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I guess we're a little off topic, huh?

I'm looking more towards northern Florida/St. Pete area, but I've worked drug and migrant interdiction before. Crazy stuff for sure. I'm looking at desk jobs at this point though since so many people in my rate need sea time and I have almost 4 years at sea.

This is OT though haha, I appreciate the help from everyone and hopefully I'll get it done after X-mas.
