My 93 GC 4.0L with 134,XXX miles is still having issues. I have now found out while sitting for the last few days waiting for it to start in the mornings that, no matter how many times I turn the key on/off no matter now long I wait with the key on. That until the check engine light comes on the fuel pump wont prime. And without the pump giving a few clicks it wont start. After doing the inital start in the mornings it seems like I dont have to wait as long during the day but it still wont start until the check engine light comes on. It is taking longer and longer to start in the mornings. This morning maybe 3-4 minutes. I have replaced the fuel pump relay and fuel filter, checked the red cables going to the fuse box under the hood. Seems like it is a electrical delay????? Any ideas or suggestions?? Sounds like a ASD relay problem, the ASD relay powers the PCM and the Ck Eng light wont come on until it has power. I forgot how its labeled in the fuse box but it will be either "ASD" or "auto shutdown" I think. Anyway I would swap that relay with another that is not real important for testing. If thats not it, I would check battery cables, connections and grounds.
