If you drop the front drive shaft and get the shift selector cable out of the way you can get to it.

This is how you would do it on a 2001 cherokee (not familiar w/ 99 Laredo, but maybe similar):
You should be able to crawl under jeep from drivers side right between the front and rear door about 2ft in, look forward and you should see CPS. The cable from CPS is only about 8"-10" so you should see it from that location also. Use a 24" extension w/ 13mm socket to remove 2 bolts on CPS. There is one bolt (different size) you should remove first on mounting bracket where CPS connection is located (other connection right next to it on same mounting bracket).

yeah its fairly similar, mines only held in by one bolt so it should be easier, ill try again tomorrow before i take it to a shop, i need a good light though so i can see better. and it is getting spark when it works. when it gets hot is when it starts to cut off and ill have to wait like 10 min. before i can crank it again. id feel like a retard if i paid someone to change something that was 1 bolt and plug it in, ill give it another shot

I just did one on my sons 94 Grand Cherokee and it sucked. But unfortunately that did not solve the problem with his shut down problems. I think I will pull it and exchange it for another new one before I go ant further because I have read that it is not uncommon to get a bad after market one. I should have just gone to Jeep for it.

Let us know how it turns out, at least you didn't pay for them to spend their time telling you what it may be

Crank sensor or you may want to clean out you iac valve sometimes they will clog up and choke the motor out but if it is doing while your Rpms are up it's probably the crank sensor

I had a Toyota 4x4 in high school that did the exact same thing. Turned out somebody put cotton ***** in my gas tank as a prank.

have fun with it, but it did work for me finally! my instructions, 1. figure out where it is (25 min.) 2. try to remove it (45 min.) 3. go back to top and double check that its not possible to do from up top (10 min.) 4. smoke a cig and ponder what to do (5 min.) 5. go to store and purchase a 12 pack (10 min. depending on location) 6. drop car off at a respectable shop, friends if possible (10 min.) 7. consume 12 pack while shop repairs
total expense
sensor $34
pack of ciggs $5
12 pack beer $12
shop fees $34
not having to do something youve been beatin your self up for, for hours - priceless

I was having the same problem with my jeep. I was driving up a hill and it jerked kind of hard and would want to shut off. Then I couldn't drive no faster than 45mph. My coil was cracked so we changed it but that wasn't the problem it ended up being my fuel pump. I've never experienced a fuel pump going out like that before.
