Old fart with a wrench
JMO, Dropping the pan and changing the fluid and filter can do a lot to tell you about your problem. It's not difficult and if you see any metal flakes in the pan, you can quess if you've got clutches or other things wrong with it. Go to the shop of your choice armed with a little knowledge.
BTW, if you find particulates in the pan, be sure to flush out the trans cooler in the radiator as well. A plugged cooler can destroy the convertor quickly!

Yes, he did in fact say "might". Lol. No, he didn't turn a wrench on my Jeep. Going to have to wait until payday before I try anything... Property tax last month took all the precious little extra $$$ that we had. Lol.
