2003 Jeep Liberty *NEED OPINIONS*
First off, dont worry, I do not own one of these, nor do I plan on having one of these for "Jeeping" in!!
I found an '03 jeep liberty Renegade for sale locally, super clean body, but has a blown motor, it has the 3.7L V6 in it. Guy is asking $1500 bucks for it. I am having trouble finding one of these motors on craigslist or any where else for this mater. I can do the swap myself but just finding the motor seems to be the hard part.
My question is... Are there different variances in these motors, or will any 3.7 fit,
And do you think it is worth the money or the time to even mess with this.
Thanks in advance!!

I have zero experience with this, but I did a google search and came up with this info. 2002-04 and 05-08 do have some differences, "the tone wheel is made on the crank it does not come off. You can only use 2002-2004 engine in your as they made a change in 05 that will NOT work with anything older then 05. The PCM, engine harness, engine style, every sensor was all changed to different types due to going to the NGC 3 system in 05 where as you have JTEC for 2002." And from someone who actually swapped an '05 into an '02 "I replaced the Crank reluctor, the cam ring, the intake, crank sensor, cam sensor, maf sensor and oil sending unit." Is it worth it? I dunno what your plans are with it, so hard to say. I always did think they look cool when built properly. It's just too bad they couldn't of done it right from the factory.

Thanks so much for the info...My plans are just gonna try to fix it and turn around nd sell it, try to make a couple thousand and get some spare change to irresposibly blow on my XJ .. That's kind of what I was realizing about the motors. So now I know what I need. Just trying to locate it seems like it may be a problem....
An I do agree. If they are done correctly they do look bad azz... The one in the pic looks awesome. I just have the money or the time to make one trail worthy.
