if you pull the head, make sure to replace the head gasket with a metal impregnated one...the awful ones from the factory usually fail, and I think they were recalled at one point..

Again, thank you all for all of your input and assistance. We have had some cruddy weather here lately and I haven't had a chance to do anything else to it. I have tried a couple of different compression testers and have had a huge ZERO reading on all of them! I am pretty sure that the testers were fine and that I did not have the correct adapter for my application.
I am out of other options now so I will be pulling the head soon to perform a visual check myself. The valves are cheap and I know I can do it myself so I am not too overly concerned.
On that note, I would like to thank all of you who have helped with the thought process on this one.
