I know a guy with a dyno. We used him to dyno the race cars back in the day.

I'd be leery of claiming those #s with those mods considering stock the truck put down mid to upper 180's for hp when new, and could only imagine what kind of egt's you'd be putting down considering you would be way out of the factory turbos' range.
Diesels are a bit trickier to get correct #'s on dynos and there are only a couple dyno shops in the NW that have the know how.

The 7.3 was tried and tested motor. One of the best diesels out there.
They screwed the pooch, when they got rid of it.

They didn't have a choice to get rid of it, just like Cummins moving on from the 5.9 emissions requirements did them both in.
And the PMR rods in the later 7.3's were junk

7.3L's are getting old, and Rams are junky. Get an 04.5+ DMax imo. I have an 03 and love it.

I added 100hp without making it smoke like a pos for $300 bucks

Never have issues with the truck.

7.3 is the only ford product I'd buy personally, shame that every company across the board has to keep redesigning their motor to keep up with government demands on emissions..

that's why everyone keep's having problems...

for me I wouldn't touch anything diesel wise past '08...

duramax for the win

yes the low pressure pump fills the high pressure pump resivoir, and it has a very small bleed hole in it to let air escape so it won't "vapor lock" per se. Now that being said the low pressue pump supplies oil to the resivoir at engine oil pressure levels. The high pressure pump ramps up the pressure to about 700- 4000 in a light duty truck, heavy duty is between 700- and 6000, now the higher the pressure the less the volume. When the truck is running and that spool valve dumps off the pressure all that comes out is a couple droplets per injector, thats it.. Now the 7.3 and 6.0 and 6.4 are all used in trucks up to about a class 6, so whoever told hyou that is a lie. The DT motors that international uses go up to a class 7 truck, after that we have what they call the big bore which is common rail, or a cummins. Cummins is a name brand that people have become accustomed to because of marketing, just like Band-Aid, Kool- Aide, etc.. Each group thinks the stuff they have is the best ever, like already said, wranglers, cummins, powerstroke, duramax (isuzu btw, just like the cummins in the dodge isuzu sold only to chevy on that one), mustang vs camaro etc... each has it's downfalls, and each has its strong points. At the end of the day if your butt fits in the seat nicely and the controls feel right to you, then thats the one, they all break, they can all make horsepower, and they all cost too much money..

I completely agree with this, I've got the dreaded 6.0 everyone loves to hate on. I bought it new off the lot with 3miles on the odo and have put on nearly 200k miles and the engine has never let me down. All the big 3 make nice rigs and all 3 have issues, and of course just ask the wife cost way too much money.

We have two 7.3's and wouldn't trade em for anything 96 and 03.
Dmax gets a new front end every 8-9months and like to **** injectors, but have a great transmission. Cummins... The owners are typically dbags, bad transmissions and hideous stacks, but make huge power gains with tuners and exhaust. Fords have an ok transmission at best, good motor, built to haul, hated on by a lot of people until they get out pulled heading up to eisenhower tunnel.

Since when did the light duty Allison become a great transmission? At stock levels they do tow incredible, but add much over a 100hp over stock and they become limp monsters and they are not cheap to make stable.
As far as there front ends and injectors, while the front ends need beefed up for sled pulling and racing I've never heard of them needing rebuilt that often and the injectors were problematic in the early years. And I would love to have a durapad with EFI live it is amazing what they are getting for power out of those things. Too bad they are Chevy
The 5R110 behind the 6.0 is a freak with just proper tuning, the Innovative Diesel test truck was over 600hp at the rear wheels with well over 100 launches at the track and driven on the road before they sold it. The guy that bought it used it as a daily driver before dying not sure where it ended up after that and that was a completely stock trasnmission.
I will agree the 4R100 was not the best unless well built.

You gotta hook a fellow Powerstroke owner up and tell me what the $200 in mods are! Anyone ever done the front shackle reversal on one of the OBS powerstrokes? Just wondering if "a new driveshaft may be required" and how it affected the ride. Been thinkin about doin it to my Wife's 97 CC 7.3L but if it didn't help the ride then she will be pissed! LOL.

Yeah I know, it rides rough because it is a truck with a heavy suspension. If there is anything that could be done though I am up for givin it a try.

Thanks all
