We have some daily driven 9 second Talons around here and one that's built for the standing mile with about 1.5K horsepower.

Ok I stand corrected but still 9's is light years away from 6's. And I also doubt those Talons/ Eclipse's are daily driven. The 4G63 motor is not reliable at all at those power levels. A 9 second daily driven Supra is more understandable but all the Supras I know who are that fast have reliability issues as well. Not saying this car is rock solid reliable but it still runs 6's and drove 1200 miles to the track to get there and run 6's. There is not an import in the world that can boast anything close to that.

Ain't nothing that fast reliable cept maybe a bike (9s not 6s)! The guys that own the Talons also own a shop. It's pretty much their trademark.

Yeah more or less. Larger motored domestics will generally be more reliable since it takes less effort to get them to go that fast. A 4G63 that is churning out that much hp is really straining itself whereas a LSx based motor is working less then half as hard to make enough hp to run the same time. And I can DD a 9 second anything so long as I am driving it to a shop where if anything breaks I can have it fixed.

a very fine example of classic American craftsmanship. i do very much think though, he's gotta bend the inspection laws quite a bit to keep that thing street legal. nevertheless you always gotta respect a car that can show up to the "big boys" race without a trailer. foreign or domestic, doesn't matter... there are a lot of nice cars and trucks out there. but, there's only one car out there that breaks the rules of "something's gotta give"... corvette. the combination of comfort, fuel economy, power and price. no other car comes close enough. i'm not a chevy fan by far, but when you're talking about a race car that is worth the money, you gotta respect the vette. most will probably disagree, but i honestly think the closest competition as far as all around performance is the evo.
