I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade and I love it as a everyday driver on the road. But if I were to go off road I would stick to my old *** beat to hell Cherokee.

Here's my polished turd...My wife and I bought it 2 years ago (her choice), but it was still the first Jeep I've ever owned. I have loved it (oddly enough). The wheelbase is perfect for wheeling, limited blind spots, and pretty powerful motor (although its no 4.0). On the way home from the dealer I was already thinking how I could improve the looks of it. The IFS is definitely nice on the road (as it should be), but from the picture below, you can see flex is severely limited because of it. Maybe someday (after its paid off and my wife wants something else) we'll do a SAS and see how capable it really is. Oh yeah, and I just bought my first XJ a month ago for all my current wheeling needs.

someday down the road, when the Libby's prices come down, and they become more readily available cheaply, I want to find a CRD, build and wheel the **** out of it. Maybe it'll be my girls rig, Y'know since by then my XJ will have hopefully reached truggy status, have 37s, a 1Ton rear and a QSB3.3 <-IMO that setup would be ECTASY for wheelin.

I traded my 00 XJ (bought for $2400 and had about $2500 into it) straight for a stock 06 KJ with 60k needed tires and a wheel bearing it seemed stupid not too (mostly just to fix up a little and sell, but it really grew on me, was only 3-4 years old and paid off) as it was a rich kid who wanted to wheel and got the KJ from his parents and thought it wasn't a real Jeep. Well I liked it, and have done some minor mods, but just ordered my OME lift with Rancho RSX shocks!! Will get some pictures once everything gets here and I can find some time to lift it.
I have to say I really like the KJ its pretty much a modern XJ just with IFS which for those who DD it and do minor to moderate trails here and there it makes a lot of sense. Lots of people wheel them and you'd be surprised.
For anyone who says anything bad about them, you should get one and wheel it, stock XJ to stock KJ things are similar, axles (well D30a vs D30 but the C8.25 is the same) transfer cases the same 231 or 242 and the 3.7 motor is not as great as the 4.0 but still a good reliable motor!
I know this is a Cherokee forum, and I do love Cherokees and hope to get another one soon, but the KJ is good replacement for the XJ.

I owned one for about 8 months back 3 years ago. (2006 Limited V6 automatic 4x4) I ended up selling it , but that's not because I didn't like it. Anyways, ride was nice, but the MPG sucked. It was worth than my current XJ for some reason.
I didn't wheeled it other then driving on a small beach and didn't have it for the winter. That was my first Jeep ever and I got the bug for them ever since.
Would I buy one if I could?? Only if it was a CRD and cheap. I still think it's cheaper to get another Cherokee and you get a better engine.
