a friend of mine went with a 2004 kj for his off road project...why i dont kno but he doesn't kno much about the jeep. he wants to lift it and asked me if i could find him a suspension lift...the only one i could find was a 3 inch from skyjacker i think it was but he wants to go bigger...has anyone herd of lifts for KJs?

Now as for lift I have seen 6.5" and 7.5" lifts for them. Just can't recall at this min. by who..

they look kinda cool lifted, and they are pretty capable, but the least capable of any jeep that came out except for the newest crap i'm not considering. why he chosethat for an off road project i don't know, the first ifs jeep. if it was already his, or handed down i'd understand.

anyway, it will still be kinda cool, but i wouldn't pick it as a project.

3" is the tallest you can go for less than a gazillian dollars, it will allow 265-75-16's with trimming.

he kinda chose it i guess...he told his mom he wanted a jeep and she went all nuts over this kj...its a 2004 limited and he just bought it last year for $13,500...i think he got ripped off...he is using his tax refund money so he doesn't want to spend more than 300 ATM but he wants to go bigger than 3...i was actually thinking of ripping out the IFS but i dont kno how pricey that would be or how challeneging it would be. i only know xjs and he knows nothing plus were both still in high school

well i have an XJ and my buddy has a KJ. We are both in high school (hes a senior im a jr.) anyways we dont wheel hardcore but whenever we flex em out theres really no difference. my xj is a little more flexy but we both get wheels off the ground. my family has had a KJ and now i have an XJ and truth be told i love KJ's there so much smoother due to the IFS and coils and they do well in stock form. That said i wouldnt trade the XJ for one.

remember dont go huge your first lift if you're just getting into the sport. dont want a jeep thats leeps and bounds above the drivers capability (see most TJ owners) Start with a 3in lift learn the jeep and offroading then get crazy (with another jeep) doing a SAS on a KJ would be a lot of work for not a lot of gain IMO

I am not a d30 hater, I am running d30's under both of my trail rigs.

But lets face it a 30 tops at at about a 35" tire. You can fit a 33 with enough cutting and the correct wheel on a kj without going solid axle. I am running 32's right now on stock wheels with only a pittle bit of pinch weld trimming. Why spend the money to go to a 30 and only be able to run a 2" taller tire. you will lose 2" of dif clearance by going solid, so the articulation would be the only real gain.

well me and my buddy really appreciate everyones input...the decision is made that he is going to keep the IFS, go with a 3 inch lift, and possibly trim the fenders to fit 32s if needed...another question to all the kj owners is that his jeep is tripping a whole bunch of weird engine codes. one says the O2 sensor voltage is too low, anther says its too high, another code says the throttle body sensor voltage is too high, another is too low, engine misfires and more. the guys at autozone told us to first get the engine to fire correctly then go from there...but he is running ALOT of sterio equipment (i.e. one huge 15 inch sub with i think a 2000 watt amp, plus its a kj limlited so its got more eletronic features) my question is that because the voltage is too low in some cases, would a bigger alternator help?
