this is my dads 74 International scout II that we are fixing up, he also has another 74 and a 73 that we use for parts and plowing.
I hate to say it but this scout is stock with 31's and a 304sb and a much much better wheeler than my 5" lifted jeep is lol.

Umm.....going out on a limb here but, I bet my XJ could go anywhere the Scout could go. Probably a few more really tight places.

i run open diffs and 32" bfg km2's and he has those weird scout factory locking diffs and 31's and plenty of power, but the only problem is its really freaking heavy lol, its a nice truck thats for sure, he hasn't gotten it buried yet but when he does im sure its gonna be one SOB to pull out lol

There is where the difference lies. Put lockers in both ends of your XJ and watch as you run circles around that Scout. Some 4.56 gears with your 4.0 and you'll have the same power as well.

hell yea actually im buying the 4.10 gears and the bearing kit from rustys and my uncle is gonna install them at his garage soon. i just wont put a lock in my jeep because ive ran welded rears and lockright rears in my blazer and they suck for a daily driver on the highway so the only way i would ever lock my rear is with a electric selectable but they are too damn expensive for a college kid

we used to have a 65 model 80\800 scout 4 cyl 3 spd twin stick that was a fun little mochine it could go anywhere.

I had a 75, my first 4wd. Miss the full convertible on nice summer days.

heres his old scout its a 74 that he had when he was young, it was mint, a beautiful scout but in 1989(when i was born) i guess he let it sit in a field and wasnt able to pull it out till last year and there was nothing left of it at all, here are some before and after pics.

HA.. i bought my 75 in 89 for a trip to Maine's North Woods. My introduction to deep backcountry camping and 4WD. My rockers fell off on that trip!

Tell Dad to grab the AC unit off the old one for the pickup. Please keep this thread alive as it gets built.

DEFFANTLY well be putting the A/C in the new one, oh and did i mention he bought that orange one for 2000$ with a rebuilt tranny with 0 miles and those brand spankin' new tires. pretty damn good deal i think!!

Scouts rock plan and simple.... There are great built well and very good trail rigs..

And he has one sweet on there..
