You left off one very capable and often overlooked 4wd, the Suzuki Samurai. They can easily accommodate 33" tires with a SOA conversion, are super simple to work on, and parts are cheap and readily available. I'm not discounting any of your other choices, just adding this one to your list. I had an 88 Sammy that I had swapped in Toyota running gear (engine, tranny, transfer case, and axles) on 33"s back in 1994 and that little rig was unstoppable. I had less than 2 grand into the whole thing and still kick myself to this day for getting rid of it. Even without the upgrades (bone stock) that little sucker would go.
Other than the Sammy, I'd go YJ with a 4.0L. Tons of aftermarket support, and a drivetrain that we are all familiar with.

I'd say build a YJ, if you pick up last months JP mag they are building a "No-Lift" YJ on 40's I plain to do one on 42's with in the next year or so. And if you use XJ rear leafs all the way around you can stretch it out 4" each end and have a wild 102" Wheel base....

I like the MJ but thats just me, also the bronco is a real good choice, and the samurai is good aswell you can do a engine swapt to a VW jetta diesel engine and run it on vegy oil, and kick some A$$

Just a side note, a properly setup leaf rig will out flex a coil rig because the leafs have the ability to flatten and even invert when put to the test. Coils do have their limit, additionally often times coils need limiting straps because they can only go down so far before they fall out.
