Have a 02 caravan that is having idle problems. It surges all the time. Im not good with these newer vehicles with electronics. Can someone give me a few ideas. I've already that cleaned the IAC and throttle body and it didn't help.

I thought about that. I had a diagnostic machine on it while it was running and the tps was showing a little fluctuation while it was idling.

I'd go ahead and change it. Seems like the problem.

Yeah I'll be changing it Thursday. The map sensor was fluctuating also. There both cheap parts. I'll probably change both.

I changed the tps and it's revving worse now. Before I changed it the revving was speraticly. Now every time it revs its like someone is tapping on the gas pedal keeping with the count to a song. When I barely press on the gas pedal the rpms jumps high and stays steady. When I let off the pedal it takes about 10 seconds to idle down.

Yeah I just found this. It's for the egr valve vac line. I touched it and it fell off.

Lol yeah. I just got back from town, I had to get 5/16" fuel line to replace it. Out of the 15 freaking parts houses in my area only 1 place had it. And just my luck it was a scrap peace. The cost was $0. Lol

Changed out 3 peaces of hose. Still no luck. I can disconnect the vac line from the throttle body for the egr valve and it starts running bettr but will act up a little. The vac pressure at the tb is a lot more than on the other side of the egr valve. Will it be the egr valve.

I was talking to the maintenance foreman at work the other day. He said try cleaning the egr valve. Did that and let it set a few days to let it dry out. Now it starts acting up after it warms up. Still puzzled about it, does anyone have a suggestion?

I have 3 codes that the van is giving.

P 1684 battery loss in 50 starts.
I have disco the battery
P 1193 inlet air temp sensor high.
I'm thinking about changing it. But I don't thing its the prob.
P 0601 powertrain control module
Internal controller malfunction.
I hope this ain't the prob.

I have been given several suggestions,
Check the harmonic balancer to see if the grommet is bad.
Could be bad gas. I put new gas and it still runs bad.
Change the plugs and wires.

Would the O2 sensor cause the engine to rev like its doing?
Again the prob is the engine is revving like Someone is tapping their foot on the gas pedal. When you barely push on the pedal the rpms jump high and takes about 10 secs to come down. I noticed that when the engine is running the lights gets dim when the rpms drop. Just a shot in the dark, would the alt be the prob with the lights dimming like they do when the rpms drop.
