Default Some pics of my cars/trucks that have come and gone

I saw there was a thread for other vehicles" but I started this post and it
got kind of long. At that point I figured "what the hell" I'll just spam you
guys with my intro in here. My name's Phil and I live near the old
Jeep plant in Toledo. Jeeps are a recent thing for me and I hate them.
They are utter garbage.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get them from under my skin.
The 1st time I set it in 4Low and blew through some mud or drove
300 miles in a blizzard to Traverse City I was hooked.
Now the mod bug has bit and I am doomed.

I figured I'd share some of my other projects with you guys. I'm not some monied a**hole who has to show off.

I am a guy who has a family, a mortgage and who makes under 40k a year.
Nope I don't have money.
I just have seriously screwed up priorities.

In short, I like cars.

96 Indy pacetruck

An old DD

1993 2.3 auto Notch converted to 2.3 turbo 5 speed. All GT or better suspension. 95 Cobra Rs (miss this car BAD)

in progress

Alfa Romeo Spyder

Had some rust

This one hurts my heart. Just had to sell it for space.

Car I parted. Sad end.
1970 GT 429 CJ 4 speed.

Black Betty. Named by my painter. This one still hurts. 5 years ago, the day after my 40th birthday.
Throttle stuck internal to the Demon carb. Car got away from me and spun and hit a tree in back.
I came to and it was still flying down the road and took out a pole.
This engine is in my current car. Carb is in the trash.

Current stable:

Wife's 81 k mile XJ

Wife's car I built for her. I turned it over just after she finished chemo.
1968 Fairlane 302/C4

Sucks about that black torino, that thing was sick but the blue one looks nice also. Anyway how do you have that red shackle on the stock bumper? You cut a hole in the plastic and weld it to the frame or something?

For whatever reason my Jeep had all the needed bracing/plates etc these things need when you get factory tow hooks, but on the passenger side only.

I bought one of these (except mine is solid steel):

drilled mount holes in the side and mounted it with the plate vertical and put the clevis through the ball mount hole.
My buddy did this on his GF's Liberty and it worked great.

Thanks!!

The black car is a Torino but the blue one is actually a Fairlane 500.
They shared the same bodystyle as the Torino.
1970 was the last year for the Fairlane.

The 1970 Falcon changed bodystyles that year too.
They are also formalroofs/hardtops but have a post door frame.

Note the post on this falcon pic I took from the internets:

Sorry I nerd out on these cars. Thanks a lot for the compliment.
Torinos/Fairlanes/Cyclones are a lot of fun to work on and a car you rarely see at car shows

i love those Torino's especially the wagon, i had never seen one before, and im a BIG fan of wagons for some reason. My great uncle has 2 Torino's (70 or 71's i cant remember) one is a hardtop with a 429 that was his first car NO ONE but him drives it and it has had about 200 miles put on it since the restoration was finished. he sold it and then tracked it down 20 years later and bought it back. the other is a convertible with a 351c in it both are a purple color with black leather and were COMPLETELY restored, he has 3 junkers for parts not to mention a 6 car garage full of stuff...

not to hijack but somehow i convinced him to let me drive the convertible to my sr prom and i put about 60 miles on it, more than it had had in the previous 2 years and pics!

The best part of the day was him doing burn outs in it and then telling me to have Fun!

Dude! A fellow Torino owner. My 3rd car (17 years old) was a 1969 Torino GT. Sold it and bought a '76 Torino that I still have to this day. Purchased it in 1980 and it has 91K miles as of now. We also have a 1973 GTS and a 1975 GTS, along with a 1968 Cougar GT/XR7, 2 1968 Camaros, a 1968 F100 Ranger shortbed, an '89 Bronco II, 3 XJ Cherokees, a YJ, Nissan Titan, and other assorted daily drivers. I wish I'd kept pics of the ones that got away, but here's a couple of those we still have.

Hell yeah Torinos. My very 1st car was a brown 73 Gran formal roof.
If you guys or your uncle ever want to BS Torinos this board is really really great.

www.torinocobra.com/forum

My buddy who owns the site puts on a Fairlane show in Detroit every year. 50 - 75 mid sized fords show up.

Awesome. I am a member of Grantorinosport.org and it is a great site as well. Went to the 1st show a couple of months ago in Pigeon Forge TN and had a blast! I have always been a Ford/Jeep/Mopar fan. Not so much Chevrolet, though. Only reason I have the Camaros is that they were bought from someone that needed $$.

Dude, those are some awesome Fords!

From the left side, Black Betty still looked fixable coming off the rollback, that had to really hurt! I had a '68 Fairlane 500 ragtop too, back in the day (1974-1975). It went well with the old man's '68 Torino hardtop. It was just a car to me then, but found out my future wife loved ragtops when we started dating. We still have a drop top, tho now it's an import ('02 Miata).

The tinworms loved those Torinos didn't they?

Good grief, YES! I think every one of them came with a formal invite to dine on the sheetmetal, LOL.
